- Sergeant Vasyl Lapychak (call sign Major) was killed on July 17, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Rybalchyne in the Kharkiv region. The warrior was 53 years old. Vasyl was born and lived in Lviv. He studied at Lviv Secondary School of I-III Levels No. 7. Then he received his education at the Automobile and Road College of the National University "Lviv Polytechnic". After completing his studies, he served in the army. Throughout his life, he worked in several fields: transport, construction, and security. He was passionate about nature, music, films, and cars. In 2014-2016, the man participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation. After serving at the Main Center for Personnel Training of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Major General Igor Momot, he joined the medical forces unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2020, he defended the state in the ranks of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. With the start of the full-scale invasion, Vasyl returned to the front line. He served as part of the 1st Border Guard Unit of the State Border Guard Service. He held the position of a 3rd category border guard inspector. He fought in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. The border guard was buried in his hometown. Vasyl is survived by his mother, wife, and two sons.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
