Vasyl O. Velychko (Vasok)

Soldier Vasyl Velichko (call sign Vasyok) was killed in action on March 24, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Zasillia in Mykolaiv region. The warrior was 24 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Toboly in Volyn region. He stu at the Lutsk Center for Vocational and Technical Education and became a photographer. In civilian life, he was a private entrepreneur, dealing with wood. He also performed as a DJ under the pseudonym "Didjei Kubanskui". He loved playing musical instruments, especially the guitar, and singing. He was also engaged in sports and played for the local football team. During the full-scale war, Vasyl decided to go to the front. He joined the ranks of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. He held the position of a driver-medic. "Vasya was cheerful and sincere. People were drawn to him, he had many friends. My brother was a good person. At his own expense, he bought uniforms for the players of his football team and did many other good things for his village. He went to war as one of the first, being the youngest among the guys from our village who went to defend the Motherland. He was very worried about people and couldn't sit at home. As soon as the war started, he helped the local military in every way he could. And on March 4, he went to war himself," said the sister of the deceased, Olga. The defender was buried in his native village. Vasyl leaves behind his parents, sister, and two brothers. Posthumously, the fighter was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.
