Vasyl P. Sushchuk (Shef)

Soldier Vasyl Suschuk (call sign Chef) was killed in action on May 18, 2022, in Mariupol, Donetsk region. He was 43 years old. Vasyl was born in the city of Rohatyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He lived in Lviv. He graduated from Lyceum No. 94. He was a private entrepreneur. He loved to fish, read books, especially on historical topics. With the start of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily joined the ranks of a separate special purpose unit of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov". Later, he defended the state as part of the A3449 military unit. He took part in rescue special missions to the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol. He was one of the 72 fighters who landed there. He was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the III degree and the badge of the Chief Intelligence Directorate "For Courage in the performance of special tasks". "He loved life, and life loved him. Extremely positive and simply good, loving, always smiling. His last words were: "Don't worry, I'm going to live a long time." It's very painful that he was killed in action... I'm proud of his courage," said his wife Halyna Suschuk. The warrior was buried on the Mars Field in Lviv. At home, his mother, wife, son, sister, godson, and goddaughter were waiting for him.
