- Senior soldier Vasyl Tymchenko was killed on September 10, 2023 near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. The defender was 51 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Maksymivka in the Chernihiv region. In 1979, he went to the Krupychpil secondary school, which he graduated from with a gold medal. He was a diligent and persistent student, interested in technology and loved to tinker. He then entered the Nizhyn Technical School, where he obtained the qualification of mechanical engineer. During his studies, the man was drafted into the army. He graduated from the technical school after his service. Later, he entered the police school and got a job in law enforcement. He had the rank of police major. He worked in Chernihiv and Kyiv. With the start of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily joined the territorial defense forces of his hometown. In April 2022, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At first, he defended the border with Russia in the Sumy region. There, during the performance of a combat mission, he received a leg injury. After two months of treatment, he was sent to the Cherkasy region, and from there to the Zaporizhzhia direction. Vasyl held the position of a rifleman-medic in the 118th separate mechanized brigade. "He sincerely loved his hometown and Ukraine. When asked why he did not try to hide from the war, he replied that he did not like it when people came and wanted to take away what belonged to him without permission. He was a pillar of support and a mentor for young warriors," the Ichnia City Council said. Vasyl was buried in the city of Ichnia, Chernihiv region. The defender is survived by his wife, daughter, parents and brother.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
