Vasyl S. Kisil (Tyhr)

36-year-old senior soldier Vasyl Kisil (call sign Tiger) was killed on October 5, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the vicinity of the village of Pyatykhatky in the Kherson region. An enemy artillery shell hit the armored vehicle "Kozak," in which the defender was with his comrades. Vasyl was born in the village of Radelychi in the Lviv region. In 2008, he graduated from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv with a degree in "History" and obtained the profession of historian and history teacher. That same year, he joined the mandatory military service. He then served in the internal affairs bodies of Ukraine and later in the National Police. In 2019, he obtained a higher legal education at Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University. In his free time, he played football, loved to sing and play musical instruments, particularly the bayan, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. During the full-scale war, Vasyl defended Ukraine in the ranks of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade. "He is the best, unique man, beloved, father! I have never met such a pure, kind, worthy, loyal, honest, fair, hardworking, responsible, wise, intelligent, and cultured Person. He was valued everywhere! I love him endlessly and am proud of him! Perhaps for someone, he is just a person, but for me and our daughter Veronika — he is the whole world, our Hero! No award can replace our beloved husband and the best father and son in the world. For his parents, he was everything — a support, a source of joy, and now he has become a guardian angel… Eternal memory!" noted the wife of the fallen, Tetiana. The defender was buried in his native village in the Lviv region. Vasyl is survived by his loving wife, daughter, and parents.
