- Sergeant Vasyl Bekeruk (call sign Veteran) was killed on February 19, 2023, in a battle with Russian invaders in the area of the settlement of Dvorichna in the Kharkiv region. The warrior was 49 years old. Vasyl was a resident of the village of Zalisci in the Volyn region. He graduated from the Rivne Automotive Technical School. He was always fascinated by cars, so he connected his career with them. For about 23 years, he worked at a car service station. During the full-scale Russian invasion, on April 6, 2022, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Vasyl served in the tank battalion of the 14th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. He was a tank commander. Since May 2022, he has been at the forefront with his comrades-in-arms. He took part in hostilities in the Donetsk region (Rozdolivka, Vyimka, Pereizne) and the Kharkiv region (Lebiane, Shevchenkove, Monachinivka, Kupiansk, Kucherivka, Petropavlivka, Zakhidne, Pishchane, Dvorichna). "He was the best. A good, sincere, loving man and father," said the wife of the deceased Lyudmyla. "A wonderful son, beloved husband, loving father, reliable friend and comrade-in-arms - until his last breath he was faithful to his comrades-in-arms and the state, this is a heavy loss for everyone. Everyone who knew him says that people like Vasyl are extremely rare. According to the company commander, Vasyl Bekeruk was fearless, ready to take risks for the sake of the goal. He had several concussions and shrapnel wounds. Constantly being in the zone of active hostilities, he never complained, but instead tried to support those around him, always had an upbeat mood and boosted the morale of those who stood shoulder to shoulder," the relatives added. Vasyl was buried in the village of Zalisci in Volyn. He left behind his mother, wife and two sons. The defender was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
