Vasyl V. Burtyn (Bur)

Senior soldier Vasyl Burtin (call sign BUR) was killed on May 11, 2023 near the village of Krynydivka in the Sumy region. During the performance of a combat mission, he was hit by an enemy Shahed-136 drone. The day before, the defender turned 31 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Velykyi Berezny, Zakarpattia region. He received secondary education. In civilian life, he worked in a bakery and went abroad to earn money. He was passionate about fishing. In 2018, he married his beloved, and later the couple had a daughter. Vasyl adored his family, tried to devote his free time to them and provide a comfortable life, and most importantly - to protect them from everything. It was for this reason that during the full-scale war, Vasyl volunteered to defend his country from the Russian invaders. He served in the 101st separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of commander of the rifle squad of the 68th battalion. "The best dad, loving husband, reliable, courageous, support for all of us, the best son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend. We all miss him very much. Eternal memory, dear one, to you and your comrades-in-arms!" - wrote the wife of the fallen Anastasiia. The warrior was buried in his native village. Vasyl is survived by his parents, sister, wife, daughter, who was 3 years old at the time of her father's death, as well as a loving family, friends and comrades-in-arms.
