Vasyl V. Demyd

Vasyl Volodymyrovych Demid was born on May 11, 1996, in the village of Volytsia, Sokal District, Lviv Region. In 2018, he graduated from the Rivne Institute of Water Management and Natural Resources Use. In April 2022, Senior Soldier Vasyl Demid was called up to the ranks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine as part of the mobilization. He honorably and with dignity took up the defense of Ukraine against the Russian army. He diligently fulfilled his duties and the tasks assigned to him. During combat missions, he repeatedly demonstrated personal bravery in the defense of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. On June 22, 2022, while in the area of the village of Solodke in Donetsk Oblast, Vasyl Demid, as part of a unit, engaged in fierce combat with superior enemy forces, reinforced with armored vehicles. The serviceman destroyed the enemy from a firing position, causing them to retreat with significant losses. After the withdrawal, the occupiers began a massive mortar shelling of the positions of the Ukrainian defenders. During the shelling, Senior Soldier Vasyl Demid was killed as a result of a shell explosion. For his personal bravery and selfless actions demonstrated in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as his loyalty to the military oath, Senior Soldier Vasyl Volodymyrovych Demid was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.
