- Sergeant Vasyl Kardash was killed on July 3, 2023, during offensive and assault operations near the village of Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk region. The fighter received a fatal shrapnel wound during enemy shelling. In four days, the defender would have turned 37 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Kudyrivtsi, Lviv region. He obtained a professional education at the Faculty of Law of the Lviv Cooperative Professional College of Economics and Law. He devoted most of his life to the military profession, which he chose consciously. When the Russian-Ukrainian war began in 2014, the man joined the ranks of the defenders and participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Donbas. He fought as part of the 3rd Brigade of Special Purpose named after Colonel Petro Bolbochan of the National Guard of Ukraine. In 2017, he joined the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Later, he carried out combat missions on the territory of the Joint Forces Operation. He served in intelligence. He met the full-scale invasion together with his comrades-in-arms on the front line. He took part in the battles for the Kharkiv, Kherson, and Donetsk regions. In 2022, he was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree. He also received the award of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Golden Cross". "He was a true warrior, a man of his word, a man of courage, an example of indomitability and strength of spirit. He conscientiously and successfully carried out all combat missions. A true hero who defended his native land at the cost of his own life," said Tetyana Strypko, the girlfriend of the fallen soldier. The paratrooper was buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. Vasyl is survived by his parents, beloved, relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
