Vasyl V. Nazarenko (Nazar)

Captain Vasyl Nazarenko (call sign Nazar) was killed on July 25, 2022 during the battles for his native Donetsk region. Near the settlement of Velyka Novosilka, the life of the 55-year-old officer was cut short by enemy mortar fire. Vasyl was born in the city of Volnovakha, Donetsk region. He obtained the profession of mechanical engineer at the Kharkiv Academy of Railway Transport. He worked in the car depot of his hometown, holding positions from mechanic to mechanical engineer. In 2014, he defended Donetsk region as part of the 11th battalion "Kyivan Rus" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in battles near Sloviansk, Nikishyne, Opytne. Later, he defended Luhansk region. After returning to Volnovakha, he held various positions in the local military enlistment office. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Vasyl stood up to defend his native lands from the occupiers. He joined the ranks of the 105th separate Volnovaska battalion of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a company commander. "He spent his free time with his family. He loved animals and fishing very much. He was interested in psychology. He never complained about anything. He was loyal to his country until the end," said the son of the fallen. The officer was buried at the Krasnopilskyi cemetery in Dnipro. The defender left behind his wife Oksana and son Danylo.
