Biography
Pichnenko Vasyl Vasylovych was born in the town of Hola Prystan, Skadovsk district, Kherson region. In 1999, he graduated with honors from the Odesa Institute of Land Forces. In 2007, as part of the UN peacekeeping mission, he carried out tasks in Sudan. He was fluent in foreign languages. He completed a training course at the US Army Command and General Staff College. As of February 2014, he held the position of head of the military cooperation group of the Eastern Operational Command. He was a participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation. He was wounded in battles near Debaltseve, but after many operations and rehabilitation, he returned to service. On November 14, 2014, he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree. In 2017-2020, he served in the military cooperation department of NATO's Land Command (LANDCOM). After returning to Ukraine, he continued his service in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a coach of the Dnipropetrovsk regional federation of pankration. He attended church and was deeply religious. After the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he headed a linear unit (battalion) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was killed on June 6, 2022, during an artillery barrage near the village of Bohorodychne, Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region. He is survived by his wife and two sons. He was buried in the city of Irpin, Bucha district, Kyiv region.Burial place
