Vasyl V. Pilat (Pilat)

31-year-old soldier Vasyl Pilat was killed on December 14, 2022 in the area of the village of Yakovlivka in the Donetsk region. In a fierce battle with the occupiers, he sustained a gunshot shrapnel wound to the head. He was considered missing for more than 3 months. Vasyl was born in the village of Velyka Verbche, Rivne region. He obtained the profession of a carpenter at a vocational school, but worked as a tractor driver and a gamekeeper. He loved the forest, hunting and fishing. He was engaged in the repair of agricultural machinery. He adored singing. He was always able to encourage everyone. In the fall of 2022, the man received a summons. Later, he joined the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended the Zaporizhia, Kherson and Donetsk regions. "Vasyl was a very kind and loving man, a support in any situation. He did everything so that my little daughter and I had everything. His friends always spoke of him as a reliable and faithful comrade. He had many plans for the future," his wife Kateryna said. The defender was buried in his native village. At home, Vasyl was awaited by his parents, sisters, brothers, wife and daughter.
