Vasyl V. Rozhko (Skloba)

Staff Sergeant Vasyl Rozhko (call sign Skloba) was killed on December 22, 2022 near the settlement of Kurdyumivka in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, the soldier received fatal injuries during enemy artillery shelling. The defender was 48 years old. Vasyl was born and lived in Vinnytsia. He obtained the profession of a tiler-finisher at the Center for Vocational Education No. 1. After military service, he remained in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as the head of the control room. He served honorably for 27 years in military unit A2656 (Vinnytsia). In 2015-2016, he took part in the ATO in Donbas. In 2019, he retired with the rank of warrant officer. His hobby was doing interior repairs of his home. In his free time, he loved fishing and spending time in nature with his family and friends. In March 2022, Vasyl returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend Ukraine from the occupiers. He served in the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign. He held the position of senior sergeant of the rifle platoon. "Dad was a very sincere and disciplined person, he helped and supported everyone. He always fought for justice and honesty. He was the best father, husband, father-in-law, son-in-law, friend and comrade in arms. Having a large and friendly family, he planned to marry off his daughters and enjoy his grandchildren, but unfortunately he did not have time... We miss him very much, the evening conversations in the kitchen, the jokes, the smile and the support. It is still hard to believe that all this is happening, and every day you expect that he will open the door with his key..." said the eldest daughter of the deceased, Svitlana. The courageous defender was buried in the Alley of Glory of the Sabarivskyi Cemetery in Vinnytsia. At home, Vasyl was awaited by his wife Olena, daughters Svitlana and Snizhana, son Oleksandr and grandson Dmytryk.
