Vasyl V. Shevchuk (Died)

Senior Sergeant Vasily Shevchuk (call sign Ded) was killed on August 13, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the village of Vasilyevka in the Donetsk region. The defender was 51 years old. Vasily was born in the village of Nyzhivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He graduated from the Ivano-Frankivsk College of Physical Culture. He lived in the village of Tomashivka. He worked as a physical education teacher. In the first days of the large-scale Russian invasion, Vasily went to the military commissariat. In June, he was mobilized into the 8th Separate Mountain Assault Battalion of the 10th Brigade "Edelweiss". The man took the position of a driver and went to the front. "My husband was kind, sincere, hardworking, helped his relatives a lot, took care of the family. He was a good teacher, loved by students, respected by colleagues. His grave is honored by fellow villagers, friends, and comrades," said the wife of the deceased. "He was killed a hero's death, became an example of courage and self-sacrifice for all of us for the sake of Ukraine, paid the highest price for our freedom. We mourn together with you, share the pain of irreparable loss and support in the hour of grief. May the good and bright memory of the Hero forever remain in the memory of relatives and friends, all who knew him and respected him. May the soul of the fallen warrior find eternal rest, and may the Lord accept him where the righteous rest. Eternal glory and memory to the Hero!" said the Kalush community. Vasily was buried in the village of Tomashivka, Ivano-Frankivsk region. At home, the defender was waiting for his wife and three sons.
