Vasyl Ya. Misko

47-year-old soldier Vasyl Misko was killed on May 21, 2023 near the village of Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he suffered a fatal explosive injury during enemy shelling. Vasyl was born in the village of Soshansky in the Vinnytsia region. He completed 9 grades at the local school. He then obtained the profession of a tractor driver at a vocational school. In 1999 he got married, and later the couple raised sons Andrii and Ivan. Since 2000, he worked at LLC "Yuzefo-Mykolaivska APK" as a mechanic-repairman and gas cutter. He lived with his family in the village of Shyroka Hreblia in the Vinnytsia region. In April 2022, the man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to the front. He served in the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade named after the Kosh Otaman Kost Hordiienko. He held the position of a gunner of a mechanized platoon in the 17th separate battalion. "My husband is my Hero, who will remain in my heart and my memory forever. A wonderful father, the best grandfather, a good and kind son and brother. He left a good memory behind. He was a very hardworking person, he gave 100 percent at work," said Inna Misko. The military man was buried in the Alley of Glory of the cemetery in the village of Yosypivka, Vinnytsia region. Vasyl is survived by his mother, wife, two sons, grandson, brother, and sisters. In February 2024, a memorial plaque to the fallen defender was opened on the facade of the Shyrokohreblia gymnasium.
