Vasyl Z. Khomyn

Senior soldier Vasyl Khomyn was killed on May 21, 2023, during the offensive-assault actions of the enemy in the area of the village of Bilohorivka in the Donetsk region. During the battle, the warrior received a fatal gunshot wound. The defender was 33 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Trukhaniv, Lviv region. He graduated from school there. Then he served in the regular military service. After the army, he worked on construction sites. He got married and raised a daughter whom he adored. He loved to spend his free time with his family. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Vasyl joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland. He served in the 8th separate mountain-assault battalion of the 10th Separate Mountain-Assault Brigade. He was a grenade launcher. A few days before his death, the man received a commendation for his personal courage and heroism during the performance of his military duty. "My brother deserved the title of Hero of Ukraine, as he was killed saving his comrades-in-arms," wrote his sister Yaryna Danyliw. The defender was buried in his native village. Vasyl is survived by his parents, brother, sister with her family, wife and daughter, who was 7 years old at the time of her father's death.
