Viacheslav A. Mishchenko (Slavientii)

Junior Sergeant Viacheslav Mishchenko (call sign Slaventii) was killed on October 4, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the area of Biloghirka in the Kherson region. The warrior did not live to see his 46th birthday by two days. Viacheslav was born in the village of Kornyn, Zhytomyr region. He obtained the profession of a history teacher at the National Pedagogical University named after Mykhailo Drahomanov. However, he worked in the construction industry. He lived with his family in Kyiv. He was interested in history, numismatics, and philately. He loved to search for antique items with a metal detector. On February 27, 2022, Viacheslav joined the defense of Ukraine in the ranks of the 99th Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the commander of a machine gun platoon. His unit participated in the defense of the Kyiv, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions. "A devoted husband and father, a true patriot," said the defender's wife Iryna. Viacheslav was buried at the Berkovets Cemetery in Kyiv. He left behind a wife and a son.
