Viacheslav D. Volhin (Batiushka)

23-year-old senior soldier Vyacheslav Volgin (call sign Father) was killed on September 19, 2022, near the village of Oskil in the Kharkiv region. During a combat mission, an enemy shell hit the vehicle of Ukrainian defenders. Vyacheslav was born in Lviv. He stu at the National University of "Lviv Polytechnic" majoring in "Geodesy." He worked at "Nova Poshta" and was a counselor at the health and sports camp "Lisotechnik." From a young age, he dreamed of following in the footsteps of his military father. Therefore, in 2019, he enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine under a contract. He participated in the Joint Forces Operation in Donbas. During the full-scale war, he defended Ukraine as part of the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade. "He was a man of his word, with a clear civic and life stance. His kindness always amazed everyone. There was not a single person he would refuse to help. He repeatedly left the hottest spots last, covering his comrades' withdrawal. He was never afraid of anything, devoted to his cause and his country, to his family and brothers!" said the deceased's sister, Anna. The paratrooper was buried at the Mars Field of Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. Vyacheslav is survived by his mother, sister, and wife.
