Viacheslav M. Berezhnyi

47-year-old senior soldier Vyacheslav Berezhny (call sign Bereh) was killed on May 9, 2024 near the village of Arkhanhel'ske in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal injuries during an enemy mortar attack. Vyacheslav was born in the village of Savyntsi, Poltava region. He studied at the local secondary school and Myrhorod Vocational School No. 44. In civilian life, he worked at LLC "Savyntsi". He adored fishing and was interested in hunting. In February 2023, the man was drafted into military service. Until February 2024, he participated in the defense of the Avdiivka Coke Plant as part of the 407th Poltava Separate Rifle Battalion. From May 2024, as part of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Major General Marko Bezruchko, he held the defense on the Pokrovsk direction. He held the position of sniper-rifleman. "It is painful even to think that Slavik is no longer with us, but the bright memory of him will forever remain in our hearts," said his sister Lyudmyla. The defender was buried in his native village. Vyacheslav is survived by his mother, sister and two sons.
