- Born on June 5, 1974, in the village of Yarivka, Khotyn district, Chernivtsi region, in a family of collective farmers. Graduated from the secondary school in the village of Yarivka. Studied at the Stavchany Vocational Technical School (now the Stavchany Professional Lyceum, village of Stavchany, Khotyn district, Chernivtsi region). In the early 1990s, he served in the border troops of Ukraine (city of Kerch, Autonomous Republic of Crimea). After completing his mandatory military service, he continued his military service under contract. He graduated from the training center for engineering troops (city of Kamianets-Podilskyi, Khmelnytskyi region), receiving the rank of "warrant officer." He served as the head of the control and technical point in the 300th mechanized regiment (since 2003 - separate mechanized regiment) of the 13th Army Corps of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0264, city of Chernivtsi), later in the territorial center for the recruitment of contract servicemen of the Chernivtsi regional military commissariat (the center was disbanded in 2011). In 2011, he returned to service in the 300th separate mechanized regiment (the regiment was disbanded in 2013). Since 2013, he served as a technician in the company of the 87th separate airborne battalion of the 80th separate airborne brigade of the High Mobility Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A2582, city of Chernivtsi). From May 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On June 9, 2014, near the city of Sloviansk, Donetsk region, Senior Warrant Officer Pelekhatyi was blown up by a tripwire, resulting in severe injuries. He was taken to the Kharkiv military hospital. All night, medics fought for the serviceman's life, but their efforts were in vain. On the morning of June 10, 2014, Senior Warrant Officer Pelekhatyi died from his injuries. On June 13, 2014, he was buried in the Alley of Glory at the Central Cemetery in the city of Chernivtsi.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
