Viacheslav Yu. Hmyria (Kropyva)

Junior Lieutenant Vyacheslav Hmyria (call sign Nettle) was killed on November 10, 2023 during an enemy mortar attack in Avdiivka, Donetsk region. Vyacheslav was from the city of Kirovohrad (now Kropyvnytskyi). He received his education at the Central Ukrainian National Technical University, where he studied at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Technology. In civilian life, he worked in the field of mechanical engineering and was an engineer-technologist. He loved nature, fishing, and active recreation with his family. In his free time, he made handmade products from fabric and leather. A portion of the proceeds from their sale was donated to the military. Vyacheslav joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March 2023. He underwent training in Germany. He participated in battles in the Zaporizhia and Donetsk directions. He held the position of gunner of the Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, and later became the commander of a platoon of the 47th separate mechanized brigade "Magura". "My brother was a very strong, courageous, talented, hardworking and purposeful person. A true brave warrior and patriot. He defended his family, his homeland, the people of Ukraine! He was an extraordinary father, the best husband in the world, a loving son, brother, nephew and uncle," said Svitlana Uskova. The soldier was buried in the Alley of Honorary Burials of the Far Eastern Cemetery in Kropyvnytskyi. Vyacheslav is survived by his wife, sons, mother, sister and niece.
