Viktor H. Zubok

Viktor Hryhorovych Zubok was born on August 3, 1993 in the city of Chernihiv. In 2010, he graduated from Chernihiv Lyceum No. 22. During his school years, he repeatedly received awards for kayaking and canoeing. From 2010 to 2015, he studied at the Chernihiv Collegium named after T.H. Shevchenko and received a higher education degree in the specialty "Ecology and Environmental Protection". In 2014, he graduated from the Department of Military Training at Sumy State University of Artillery and became a junior lieutenant in the reserve. He regularly underwent training in territorial defense, and was awarded a certificate of merit from the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a significant contribution to strengthening the country's defense capabilities. He held the position of a chief specialist in the department of state environmental control of atmospheric air at the State Ecological Inspection in the Chernihiv region. He repeatedly received awards for his work and was preparing to take on a leadership position, passing the Ukrainian language exam, but due to the start of the war, the competition did not take place. On the first day of the full-scale military invasion of Russia in Ukraine, without waiting for a summons, the junior lieutenant in the reserve volunteered to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to Viktor's girlfriend Khrystyna, he had decided as early as the winter of 2021 that if a war started, he would immediately go to fight and defend his family and the city. He was killed on March 15, 2022 near a ski base on the outskirts of Chernihiv.
