- Senior Soldier Viktor Maksymenko (call sign Psykh) was killed on May 7, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Serebrіanka in the Donetsk region. During enemy artillery shelling, he sustained multiple shrapnel wounds. The defender was 25 years old. Viktor was born in the village of Pechi, Chernihiv region. He graduated from the Chernihiv Vocational Lyceum of Railway Transport, where he obtained the qualifications of a passenger car conductor and a railway track fitter. But he never worked in his specialty, as he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine immediately after graduating from the lyceum. In 2016-2020, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation / Joint Forces Operation as part of the 46th Separate Assault Battalion "Donbas". He fought in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. During his service, he received the following awards: "For Bravery in Combat", "For Participation in the Battle for the Svitlodarsk Bulge", "Participant of the Anti-Terrorist Operation", "For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation". After the full-scale invasion, he returned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This time, Viktor fought against the occupiers as part of the 16th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion "Poltava" of the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, serving as the senior mortar gunner in the mortar battery. "Viktor was a true patriot, a warrior, a reliable comrade, and a good person," wrote the deceased's sister, Oksana. The soldier was buried in his native village.
