- 56-year-old fighter Viktor Darmostuk (call sign Grandfather) was killed on October 15, 2023 during a combat mission near the settlement of Khromove in the Donetsk region. The warrior's life was cut short by enemy artillery fire. Viktor was born in the village of Mala Ofirnа in the Kyiv region. He studied at the local school. Then he graduated from the Borodianka Vocational School. He served in the military in the Zhytomyr region. He worked on the railway, in the forestry sector, and later engaged in entrepreneurial activities. He was actively involved in the life of the village, and was a deputy of the Malosnytynska village council. He was fond of sports and played football. On February 24, 2022, the man joined the ranks of the defenders and took up the defense of his native Kyiv region. He served in the 208th battalion of the 114th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He commanded a rifle platoon. "He was my father's comrade-in-arms. He was a man of great character, devoted to service, a mentor for his comrades-in-arms," said Kateryna Bodaratska. "The sincere and open-hearted Viktor had many friends. He was always there if someone needed help. With his beloved wife Lyudmyla, he raised two sons. He was fond of football. In the game, he forgot about everything and behaved like a professional athlete. Viktor played with his grandchildren and made plans for life. But on February 24, when the enemy went to the Kyiv region, the man had to leave everything. He took up arms and defended his family and native land. From the beginning of the large-scale invasion, he was the commander of a rifle platoon and a faithful comrade-in-arms to his fellow fighters. He took part in hostilities in the Luhansk region," they added in the Fastiv community. The defender was buried in his native village. At home, Viktor was awaited by his wife Lyudmyla, sons Oleksandr and Volodymyr, and grandchildren Varvara, Artem and Elina.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
