Viktor V. Melnychenko

Born on May 24, 1972, in the village of Veselyi Kut, Talnivskyi District, Cherkasy Oblast. Graduated from the secondary school of the village of Veselyi Kut. Served mandatory military service in the Armed Forces. On August 6, 2014, he was mobilized as a volunteer to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the Talnivskyi District Military Commissariat of Cherkasy Oblast. He served as a driver in the 128th Separate Mountain Infantry Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1778 (field post V4673), city of Mukacheve, Zakarpattia Oblast). From the summer to autumn of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On October 12, 2014, Sergeant Melnychenko was killed during a mortar shelling near the city of Debaltseve, Donetsk Oblast, as a result of a fatal injury that caused multiple internal organ damage. On October 15, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Veselyi Kut, Talnivskyi District, Cherkasy Oblast.
