Viktor Yu. Savanchuk

Born on November 12, 1993, in the village of Yalanets, Tomashpil District, Vinnytsia Oblast. In 2011, he graduated from the general education school in the village of Yalanets, then from the Odesa Maritime Transport Lyceum. Since spring 2013, he served under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a reconnaissance machine gunner in the 8th Separate Special Purpose Regiment of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (military unit A0553 (field post V4252), city of Khmelnytskyi). From spring to summer 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 9, 2014, around 23:40, a "Ural" vehicle, in which soldier Savanchuk was located, was ambushed by terrorists in the area of the village of Muratove, Novoaidar District, Luhansk Oblast. The enemy fired at the truck with a machine gun and small arms. As a result of the shelling, soldier Savanchuk was killed by a bullet that hit the unprotected part of his torso. Three other soldiers were injured with varying degrees of severity. On July 12, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Yalanets, Tomashpil District, Vinnytsia Oblast.
