Vitalii B. Shymko

30-year-old sailor Vitaliy Shymko was killed on June 22, 2023 near the village of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, the soldier sustained a fatal explosive injury. Vitaliy was born in the city of Stebnik, Lviv region. He studied at the local school No. 6. Then he graduated from the Stebnik Vocational Lyceum, where he obtained the profession of a bartender-waiter. He worked abroad. At the time of the full-scale invasion, Vitaliy was in Poland, but immediately decided to return home to defend his country. Later, the man joined the ranks of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 35th separate brigade of the Marine Corps named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyy. "Vitaliy was very brave, fair, honest, and straightforward. He left us young, did not live his life, did not have time to fall in love, did not have time to travel, did not have time to raise his children, he is forever 30. He was genuine, because only a genuine person can give his life for the life of another person," said the deceased's brother Mykola. The marine was buried in his hometown. Vitaliy is survived by his parents, brother, other relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.
