Vitalii I. Holubka (Shanovnyi)

Senior Lieutenant Vitaliy Holubka (call sign Honorable) was killed on August 12, 2022, near the village of Yehorivka, Donetsk region. During storming actions, he received an explosive injury incompatible with life. In September, the defender would have turned 23 years old. Vitaliy was born in the village of Batyovo in Zakarpattia. After school, he entered the National Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny. After completing his studies, he was sent to the 24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar". He participated in the ATO in the Donetsk direction. He met the full-scale war on the front line as part of the same battalion. He held the position of commander of the fire support platoon of the 1st assault company. In July 2022, he was wounded. After the operation, he immediately returned from the hospital to the front line to his comrades, despite all the persuasion of his relatives to rest and undergo rehabilitation at home. For his service, Vitaliy was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree and the Medal "For Devoted Service". The call sign Honorable was given to Vitaliy by his comrades, because he was always polite and kind in everything. All the cards that were in the unit, the warrior drew himself, always went on all tasks, never stayed behind. My son is a real Hero, because I don't know anyone as honest, fair, and brave. When we asked him to stay home after being wounded, he said: "Mom, I'm a commander, my boys are there, I have to be with them." Now I've simply was killed with him," wrote the defender's mother Natalia Vasylivna. The hero was buried in the city of Chop in Zakarpattia. At home, Vitaliy was not awaited by his parents, brother, and sister. On September 15, 2022, Senior Lieutenant Vitaliy Holubka was posthumously awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Chop".
