Vitalii I. Kachkan (Aslan)

Sergeant Major Vitaliy Kachkan (call sign Aslan) was killed on September 7, 2022, in the village of Bohoyavlenka, Donetsk region. During enemy missile shelling, he suffered an explosive injury incompatible with life. The defender was 44 years old. Vitaliy was born in the village of Rybne in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. He graduated from the local vocational school of automotive transport and construction, where he obtained the profession of a mechanic. He worked as a laborer. In his free time, he loved to fish and take care of horses. In March 2022, he took up the defense of Ukraine, joining the ranks of the 68th separate Yager brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush. He held the position of an operator in the anti-tank platoon of the Yager battalion. In September of the same year, contact with him was lost, and the man was considered missing. Only in March 2023 was his death confirmed. "He was the best dad in the world, and I miss him now," wrote his daughter Valentyna. Vitaliy was buried in his native village. The warrior left behind a mother, wife, and daughter.
