Vitalii I. Kalchuk (Zmii)

Senior Lieutenant Vitaliy Kalchuk (call sign Snake) was killed on August 23, 2022 during a missile strike on the village of Oleksandrivka in the Mykolaiv region. The defender was 47 years old. Vitaliy was originally from the village of Litky in the Zhytomyr region. He lived with his family in Kyiv. He obtained higher education at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. He worked as an occupational safety inspector at LLC "Horobets". With the start of the full-scale invasion, he took up the defense of the Motherland. He fought as part of the 46th separate air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of platoon commander. He was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree. "My husband showed his courage and resilience, gave the most precious thing in the world - his life, so that we all could live in an independent Ukraine. He always said that everything will be fine, that we will win. The children know that their father is a hero, he will remain in our hearts forever," said his wife Oksana Kalchuk. The fallen warrior was buried in his native Litky. Vitaliy is survived by his wife, daughters, and mother.
