Vitalii I. Krutofist

Born on April 1, 1981, in the city of Vyzhnytsia, Chernivtsi region. Studied at a general education school and gymnasium in the city of Vyzhnytsia. In 1998, graduated from Vyzhnytsia Gymnasium. From 1999 to 2001, served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Underwent military training at a military unit in the city of Berdychiv, Zhytomyr region, where he obtained the military specialty of driver-mechanic of an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV). Served in the 300th mechanized regiment of the 13th army corps of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0264, city of Chernivtsi). After the army, worked various jobs in the city of Vyzhnytsia. In 2010, graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy and Theology of Chernivtsi National University named after Yuri Fedkovych (city of Chernivtsi). Since 2011, worked as a bartender in the city of Chernivtsi, went abroad for work. Recently lived in the village of Bahna, Vyzhnytsia district, Chernivtsi region. On April 23, 2015, mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Underwent retraining at the Yavoriv military training ground in the Yavoriv district of Lviv region, where he obtained the military specialty of mechanic of a self-propelled artillery unit. Since May 2016, served under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Served as a senior shooter in the 2nd company of the 21st separate motorized infantry battalion of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit field post V2604). Since 2015, participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Served in the area of the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region. On May 23, 2016, Sergeant Vitaliy Krutofist was killed as a result of a vehicle running over an anti-tank mine near the village of Pavlopil, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region. Junior Sergeant Yuriy Irzhik was killed along with him. On May 31, 2016, he was buried in the cemetery of the city of Vyzhnytsia, Chernivtsi region.
