Vitalii M. Mahel

Major Vitaliy Magel was killed on September 17, 2022, in Kharkiv Oblast. The soldier was 31 years old. Vitaliy was born in the village of Pryvilne in the Rivne region. After school, he obtained a higher education at the National University of Water Management and Nature Use. He studied at the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage. After completing his master's degree, he stayed to work at the university. He joined the defense of Ukraine in 2014 and participated in the anti-terrorist operation. During the full-scale invasion, he was involved in forming the territorial defense battalion of Rivne Oblast. He took part in combat actions as part of the 104th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade. "Diligent, erudite, cheerful," is how Vitaliy Magel was described at his alma mater. "A wonderful friend, a brave warrior, a true officer... For Vitaliy, Ukraine was not just in his heart; he lived it, spoke of it, and died for it," added the Rivne Combined City Recruitment and Social Support Center. Vitaliy Magel was buried in the village of Pryvilne. The defender is survived by his parents, wife, and other relatives. Jubilee Street in Rivne has been renamed in honor of Vitaliy Magel.
