- Sergeant Vitaliy Shostak (call sign Krylan) was killed on October 10, 2023 near the village of Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region. During the battle with the enemy, he sustained an explosive injury that led to his death. A week before this, on October 3, the defender turned 41 years old. Vitaliy was born in Kharkiv. He graduated from the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs and obtained a degree in law and jurisprudence. He also underwent training at the Kharkiv Center for Scientific, Technical and Economic Information, and received a qualification certificate as a specialist in expert monetary valuation of land plots. He lived with his family in the village of Chornukhy, Poltava region. Prior to the invasion, he worked as a leading specialist at the Chornukhy village council. He loved music and books. He was an active participant in the local brass band. He loved to learn and discover new things. During the full-scale war, he became a fighter of the 32nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of squad commander and combat vehicle commander. "Vitaliy was a bright, sincere, and decent person. He was a real man. Courageous, brave, and determined. He was always a pillar of support and strength for the family. The most loyal husband and the most tender father. For me, he was my soul," shared the wife of the fallen Viktoria. The defender was buried in the village of Chornukhy, Poltava region.
