Vitalii V. Hnypel (Napoleon)

Soldier Vitaliy Gnypel (call sign Napoleon) was killed on March 1, 2023, defending the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, the fighter came under enemy mortar fire and received fatal injuries. In February, he turned 33 years old. Vitaliy was from the village of Luhove, Khmilnytskyi region. He obtained the profession of a guide at the Zhmerynka Higher Vocational School. He served his mandatory military service. He worked as a construction worker. He adored children, but never had the chance to start his own family. In his free time, he loved to go fishing. In August 2022, the man was mobilized into the ranks of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 77th Separate Airmobile Brigade. He held the position of senior rifleman - operator of anti-tank missile systems. He participated in the defense of the cities of Soledar and Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. "My brother always helped everyone, gave his last and never expected anything in return. He has a big soul. In the war, he found true friends. He saved his comrades and helped everyone. According to the guys, he never got scared, even when death was too close. He was never indifferent to the grief of others. Our children and the children of our friends will always remember him as the best uncle," said the deceased's sister Tetiana. The warrior was buried in the Alley of Glory in the city of Khmilnytskyi. Vitaliy is survived by his mother, brother, sister, and nephews.
