Vitalii V. Horbatiuk (Dub)

Born on November 26, 1977, in the village of Hunchа, Haisyn district, Vinnytsia region. In the early 1980s, he moved with his family to the village of Stadnytsia, Vinnytsia district, Vinnytsia region. He graduated from 9 grades of the general education school in the village of Stadnytsia, then attended Vinnytsia Higher Vocational School No. 4 (now the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution "Vinnytsia Interregional Higher Vocational School") specializing in "communications operator." He served his mandatory military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He worked at the Limited Liability Company "Svemon Center" in the city of Vinnytsia. Since 2004, he lived in the village of Pidpolozzia, Volovets district, Zakarpattia region. Since July 13, 2016, he served under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a gunner in the 2nd company of the 15th separate mountain infantry battalion of the 128th separate mountain infantry brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1778, city of Uzhhorod, Zakarpattia region). From summer to autumn 2016, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Call sign "Dub." He served at the "Butovka Donetsk" mine near the city of Donetsk, where on September 16, 2016, he received a shrapnel wound. After treatment, he returned to the front line. He served at the "Zenith" position in the area of the "Donetsk" International Airport, then near the village of Opytne, Yasynuvata district, Donetsk region. On November 24, 2016, around 16:00, soldier Horbatyuk was killed by a sniper's bullet during combat duty at the company stronghold "Angel" near the village of Opytne, Yasynuvata district, Donetsk region. On November 28, 2016, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Pidpolozzia, Volovets district, Zakarpattia region.
