Vitalii V. Kharchuk (Khirurh)

Vitaliy Volodymyrovich Kharchuk was born on September 19, 1999 in Kyiv. He studied at school No. 1 in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv. He was engaged in breakdancing, acrobatics and other sports, including Horting. In 2014-2018, he studied at the Kyiv Industrial Professional College, majoring in Mechanics. He was elected the group leader and diligently and responsibly performed his duties. In 2018, he was drafted into the Separate Presidential Regiment for compulsory military service. After 3 months, he signed the first 1-year contract and expressed a desire to transfer to the Azov Regiment. He served in Urzuf, Donetsk Oblast. He participated in combat operations in eastern Ukraine. Later, he signed a second 3-year contract. He was promoted to the rank of Junior Sergeant and became the commander of the 3rd section of the 1st platoon of the operational designation of the 2nd company of the 2nd battalion. He was always an example for his comrades-in-arms: he had a keen sense of justice, an iron will and a loving heart. After the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, he heroically defended Mariupol. He destroyed more than 5 units of enemy armored vehicles. He evacuated about 20 defenders from the encirclement. He was killed on April 2, 2022, repelling the enemy's attack. He was buried in Dnipro as an unknown defender after the exchange of fallen soldiers on May 30, 2022. Vitaliy Kharchuk was reburied on October 1, 2022 at the Lukyanivka Military Cemetery in Kyiv.
