Vitalii V. Matsokin

Born on April 25, 1983, in the village of Kimivka (now Kalynivka) of the Berezan district in Mykolaiv region. Graduated from a general education school. In August 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the Berezan District Military Commissariat of Mykolaiv region. He served as a radio telephone operator in the reconnaissance platoon of the 28th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0666, the urban-type settlement of Chornomorske in the Kominternivskyi district (since 2016 - Lymanskyi) of Odesa region). From August 2014, he was at the 235th General Military Training Ground "Shyrokyi Lan" (village of Ulyanivka in Mykolaiv district of Mykolaiv region). On October 5, 2014, soldier Matsokin received a serious gunshot wound to the abdomen during a duty shift due to the careless handling of a weapon by another serviceman. He was taken to a hospital in Mykolaiv, where he died from his injuries the next day, October 6. He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Kimivka (now Kalynivka) in the Berezan district of Mykolaiv region.
