Vitalii V. Shostak

Vitaliy Shostak was born on November 6, 1997, in the village of Maskivtsi in Kyiv Oblast. He was the fourth child in the family — the youngest and the most beloved. He studied at the Podilskyi Educational Complex, where he found true friends, mischief like all boys; he actively participated in school life, repeatedly defending its sports honor. In March 2016, Vitaliy voluntarily signed a contract to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After two months of training at the 169th Training Center in the town of Desna, he was sent to the combat zone. Vitaliy and Oleksandr (his 26-year-old brother later joined) defended the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine as part of the 8th company of the 3rd mechanized battalion of the 72nd separate mechanized brigade. During another enemy shelling on the night of October 30 to 31 near the Donetsk mine "Butivka," Vitaliy sustained a serious gunshot wound. His bloodied body was carried from the battlefield by his brother Oleksandr.
