Vladyslav O. Zubko (Izi)

Junior Sergeant Vladyslav Zubko (call sign Izi) was killed on May 8, 2022, during the defense of Mariupol in Donetsk Oblast as a result of a Russian airstrike on Azovstal. The defender was 26 years old. Vladyslav was born in the village of Osypenko in the Zaporizhzhia region. He graduated from Zaporizhzhia National Technical University with a degree in "Information Communication Networks." He engaged in sports from a young age and wanted to travel and live in a big city. After graduating from university, the young man decided to dedicate his life to the army, becoming a fighter in the National Guard of Ukraine. He served in a separate special forces unit of the National Guard "Azov." During the full-scale war, he held the position of instructor (sniper) in the sniper division of the special operations sniper group. Since February 24, 2022, he defended the city of Mariupol alongside his comrades. "Son was responsible, kind, and always smiled," noted the mother of the fallen. Vladyslav is survived by his parents, Oksana Viktorivna and Oleksandr Viktorovych, and his sister Liliia. Posthumously, the "Azov" soldier was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
