The commander of a helicopter unit, Captain Vladyslav Horban, the hero of Ukraine, was killed in action in Mykolaiv region on March 6, 2022. That day, Russian invaders shot down two helicopters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The six servicemen , among them was Vladyslav Horban. In April, the officer was to turn 28 years old. Vladyslav was born in the village of Kyrykivka, Sumy region. After completing the 9th grade, he entered the lyceum with enhanced military and physical training "Cadet Corps" named after I. G. Kharitonenko. After graduation, he chose the direction of army aviation and entered the Kharkiv National University of Air Force named after Ivan Kozhedub. The young officer went to serve in Poltava, where he became the commander of a helicopter unit of a helicopter squadron of the 18th separate brigade of army aviation named after Igor Sikorsky. He flew on a Mi-8 helicopter. He performed tasks in the area of the ATO / OOS. The pilot defended the independence of the state all his conscious life. When the full-scale invasion began, Vladyslav was defending the Ukrainian sky from the first day, for which he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree. "Vladyslav was very smart and kind. He always dreamed of a big family and friendly companies. And he had it all: a family, a large circle of friends, everyone who loves him and everyone he loves. The pain of loss is impossible to describe, in our hearts he is alive and every day we continue to wait for him at home. He never offended anyone, always was tactful, his charisma was remembered by all. At work, he was responsible and competent," - said Vladyslav's friend. The defender was buried at the Central Cemetery in his native village of Myrhorod, Sumy region. Vladyslav's wife and 3-year-old son, who looks very much like his father, were waiting for him at home. Posthumously, Captain Vladyslav Horban was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky II degree.
