Vladyslav V. Monko

Sniper Vladyslav Monko was killed on February 7, 2023, in a battle with the occupiers near the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The defender did not live to see his 25th birthday by exactly one month. Vladyslav was born in the village of Borova, Kyiv region. He graduated from Borivska School. Later, he obtained the profession of an automotive mechanic at the Fastiv Vocational School. He was always responsible, active, and cheerful. He served his conscription in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Vladyslav stood up to defend his native village, joining the ranks of the local territorial defense. In April, he joined a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to the front line. He held the position of a sniper. "May the Kingdom of Heaven and eternal memory be to my nephew. May the earth be soft for him. He will always remain forever young in our hearts. Condolences to the family," wrote Liudmyla Stankevych. "We share the family's pain of loss. We will not forgive the enemy for a single lost soul. Eternal memory and eternal glory to the Hero," said the Fastiv City Council. The defender was buried in his native village. Vladyslav is survived by his parents and sister.
