Vladyslav V. Sakovskyi

Soldier Vladyslav Sakovskyi (call sign Sakolik) died on June 11, 2024, as a result of a hit by an enemy drone near the village of Ternі, Donetsk region. The defender was 25 years old. Vladyslav was born in the village of Verbka, Volyn region. After school, he decided to become a railway worker and entered the Lviv Interregional Higher Vocational School of Railway Transport. Later, he studied at the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi. He worked as a sales representative. He lived with his family in the city of Kovel. In 2016, when he was only 18 years old, he decided to defend Ukraine and signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation. During the full-scale war, in 2024, Vladyslav was mobilized. He defended the country as part of the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade, holding the position of gunner of the 1st mechanized platoon of the 2nd mechanized company of the 2nd mechanized battalion. "He was a sunny person, always smiling, incredibly kind. He knew how to support with a word, with a thought. He helped everyone around him. His favorite game was backgammon. He loved us with his daughter, his parents, his relatives," his wife Anna said. The defender was buried on the Alley of Glory in the city of Kovel, Volyn region. The warrior is survived by his parents, brother, wife, and daughter. Vladyslav Sakovskyi was posthumously awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Kovel".
