Vladyslav V. Zhuk (Khalk)

Senior Lieutenant Vladislav Zhuk (call sign Hulk) was killed on January 3, 2023 in battle with the occupiers near the village of Terny in the Donetsk region. During enemy mortar shelling, he sustained a fatal explosive injury. The officer was 45 years old. Vladislav was born and lived in the capital. He graduated from the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture with a degree in "Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies". Recently, he was engaged in an online retail business. During the full-scale invasion, the man became a military serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He initially served in the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade. He defended Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Near Bakhmut, he was wounded. After treatment, he joined the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade and went back to the front line. He liberated the Kharkiv region and later found himself again in Donbas. According to his comrades-in-arms, Vladislav proved himself to be a true officer: balanced, always smiling, and supporting his subordinates in everything. For his combat merits and high-quality combat performance, the officer was awarded the following distinctions: "For Participation in Battle", "Steel Cross", and "For Wound". The warrior was buried at the Forest Cemetery in his native Kyiv. Vladislav is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and beloved dog Hulk - a Yorkshire Terrier, after whom he took his call sign.
