Volodymyr A. Kostomarov

45-year-old senior lieutenant Volodymyr Kostomarov was killed on September 2, 2022, in battles with Russian occupiers near the city of Marinka in Donetsk region. Volodymyr was born in the city of Luhansk. He graduated from a local school. He obtained higher education at a university in Dnipro. When the Russo-Ukrainian war began, he moved to Kyiv with his family. However, in 2022, the war once again caught up with the family of internally displaced persons. Volodymyr took his relatives to the city of Vylnohirs'k in Dnipropetrovsk region, while he joined the ranks of the air assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As an officer, he held the position of commander of an airborne platoon. "The war once again touched us with its dark wing. Grief came to the family from among the internally displaced persons living now in Vylnohirs'k. While fulfilling his military and civic duty, Volodymyr Anatoliyovych Kostomarov, a resident of Luhansk, heroically in battles with Russian occupiers," noted the Vylnohirs'k community. The defender was buried in the city of Vylnohirs'k in Dnipropetrovsk region. He is survived by his mother, sister, wife, and daughter.
