- Sergeant Volodymyr Horyn (call sign Uncle Vova) fought his last battle on October 12, 2022, near the village of Novosadove in Donetsk region. While covering the retreat of his comrades, he sustained a fatal injury during enemy shelling. The defender is now forever 54 years old. Volodymyr Horyn was born in the village of Dzhuryn in the Ternopil region. He graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Railway Transport Engineers and obtained the profession of track master. He worked all his life in his field at the Chortkiv railway section of the Lviv Railway of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." He was never indifferent to those around him, which is why he later became a local deputy, as he wanted to improve the lives of his fellow citizens. He loved Ukraine and its history, read many books, and engaged in sports. In April 2022, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Volodymyr served in the 111th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, military unit A7284. He held the position of commander of the anti-aircraft missile division. For his service, he was awarded the badge of the 111th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the 3rd class, the "Honor and Glory" cross, and the medal "For Service to the Ukrainian People." "I am proud of my uncle, his patriotism, and dedication. Volodymyr remained true to his oath, his people, his comrades, and his homeland until his last breath. He is a true Hero," wrote Oleksandr Horyn, the nephew of the fallen. The hero was buried in his native village. Volodymyr is survived by a son, a brother, and nephews.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
