Volodymyr M. Dehtiar

Soldier Volodymyr Dehtiar was killed in action on March 11, 2022, in Kherson region during a battle with Russian occupiers. In April, the man would have turned 50. Volodymyr was born in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. He stu at Kryvyi Rih National University. He worked as a carpenter and made furniture all his life. Relatives say he had golden hands and could fix any malfunction. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing. He participated in the ATO in Donbas in 2014-2015. When the full-scale war began in 2022, Volodymyr was called up to the 17th Separate Tank Brigade named after Kostyantyn Pestushko. He took up the position of gunner and went to the front lines to fight the enemy. "Entering an unequal battle with the occupiers, the defender saved most of his comrades who were on other positions and managed to go on the offensive. All this time, relatives searched for Volodymyr in all possible ways and found him, but already dead," wrote the hero's niece, Olena. The hero was buried in the village of Vysokopillya in Kherson region. Volodymyr is survived by his wife and two children.
