- Captain Volodymyr Holyadinets (call sign Stone) was killed on October 19, 2023 in Avdiivka, Donetsk region. While evacuating wounded comrades, he received fatal injuries as a result of enemy tank shelling. In his last moments, he covered his comrade, saving his life. A month later, on November 18, the hero would have turned 26 years old. The officer was born in the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyi, Volyn region. In 2017, he graduated from the Volodymyr-Volynskyi Agrotechnical College with a degree in "Electrical Engineering" and immediately went on conscript service. In 2018, he entered the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny. In his free time, he loved to read fiction, adventure, historical, and popular science literature, mostly on military topics. Even during service in the combat zone, the young commander often ordered books that he read in his free time. One of them was the book by Admiral William H. McRaven "The Hero Code: Lessons Learned from Lives Well Lived". It deeply touched Volodymyr. Even during his studies at the college, he loved sports. For a certain period, he was engaged in kickboxing, which he really enjoyed. He dreamed of continuing his studies after the war. At the end of February 2022, due to the full-scale invasion, the Lviv Academy prematurely graduated officers from the 4th year, so that they could go to the front line in early March. The young officer served in the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Major General Marko Bezruchko. He was a company commander and always led his subordinates, earning respect and authority. Together with his comrades, he heroically defended the city of Avdiivka. During his service, Volodymyr received the awards "For the Defense of the Native State", "For the Defense of Avdiivka", "Badge of Honor" and "For the Defense of Ukraine". "My beloved was an extraordinarily humane and cultured person, moral values - honesty, justice, respect, benevolence, sociability - were his way of life, and for others - an example to follow. This is a person with a steel will and a clear life position. Despite the difficult trials of fate, my protector always remained on the side of good, stood up for his comrades, conscientiously and responsibly carried out military service. Being a company commander with the rank of captain, Volodymyr constantly visited his comrades at the front line, advised, helped, and boosted morale. The war did not break my beloved, on the contrary, it even more clearly manifested his best human qualities, without staining his bright soul. Although Volodya was only on leave three times, despite the experiences of the war, he saw good and enjoyed it, and where it was lacking, he created it. It is not surprising that the war takes the best, such bright people are not ready to sacrifice innocent lives in order to get rich or preserve their own. My beloved did a lot in his short life, and above all, because he always remained human. My angel left this earth with dignity, just as he lived on it," said the fallen defender's fiancée, Olha Shmyhel. The officer is buried at the Fedorivskyi cemetery in his hometown. The young hero is survived by his mother, stepfather, brother, sister, and grandmother.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
