- Soldier Volodymyr Mehhlovets (call sign Mehlo) was killed on November 2, 2022, in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Vodiane in the Donetsk region. The life of the defender was cut short by an enemy mortar shell. Exactly two months prior to this, he turned 38 years old. Volodymyr was born in the city of Khoromtau (Kazakhstan). In 1991, he moved to Ukraine with his family, to the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. He graduated from the Mezhiv Professional Technical School. After getting married, he moved to the city of Myrnohrad in the Donetsk region. He was a believer and always helped his loved ones and friends. In civilian life, he worked as a locomotive engineer at the "Pokrovsk" mine management. He dedicated his free time to family and friends. He loved spending time in nature. During the full-scale war, on March 5, 2022, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Volodymyr served in the mortar battery of the 23rd battalion of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade. He fought in Donetsk: for Opytne, Novoselivka, and Vodiane. For his impeccable and conscientious service, Volodymyr received a letter of gratitude on behalf of the personnel of his military unit. Posthumously, he was awarded a certificate. "My husband is a wonderful person with a big and kind heart. He is a man of his word and action. Before he started serving, he saved lives, he was a believer. Even the day before his death, risking his own life, he carried a comrade who was very seriously wounded," said Nadiia Mehhlovets. The warrior was buried at the central cemetery of the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. Volodymyr is survived by his parents, wife, and two children. A street in the city has been renamed in honor of the defender.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
