Volodymyr M. Vovk

Born on June 21, 1972, in the city of Ternopil. Graduated from the secondary school in Ternopil and a higher medical educational institution with a degree in "surgeon." Worked as a phthisiatrist at the Ternopil Regional Anti-Tuberculosis Dispensary. In the winter of 2013-2014, he was at Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, where he was an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity. On February 6, 2015, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a doctor in the medical unit of the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit V0425, cities of Sumy/Konotop/Hlukhiv in the Sumy region). Since 2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On February 7, 2016, Captain of the Medical Service Volkov died of cardiac arrest in the urban-type settlement of Ocheretyn, Yasynuvata district, Donetsk region. On February 11, 2016, he was buried at the Alley of Heroes of the Mykulynetske Cemetery in Ternopil. Honorary citizen of the city of Ternopil (posthumously on August 19, 2016). On June 21, 2016, a memorial plaque was unveiled in Ternopil on the building (Kyivska Street, 8) where Volodymyr Volkov lived.
