- Battlefield medic Volodymyr Fedorov (call sign Scalpel) was killed on March 15, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. The defender was 35 years old. Volodymyr was born in Mykolaiv. He attended school No. 22. In childhood, he moved with his parents to Kyiv. There he graduated from school No. 135 and the Rusanivsky Physics and Mathematics Lyceum. In 2013, he graduated from the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute". That same year, he began working as an engineer at the Institute of Applied Problems of Physics and Biophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 2018, he completed his postgraduate studies, and a year later, he took the position of a junior research fellow. He specialized in software development, processing and analysis of biological structures and objects, computer vision methods, artificial intelligence, and integrated information systems. Since 2021, he has been a research fellow at the Department of Biological Systems Physics of the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. During the full-scale Russian invasion, in March 2022, the man went to defend his native country from the occupiers. He served in the 71st Separate Jaeger Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "Volodymyr was talented, intelligent, purposeful, in many things several levels higher than everyone around him. He was a talented physicist. Perhaps there are no better ones. He highly valued life," said the late's ex-wife, Marina. Volodymyr was buried at the Berkovetsky Cemetery in the capital. He left behind a son, close ones, friends, and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
